Farming in Nigeria has taken a dramatic turn to better directions in recent years, creating Jobs and opportunities for entrepreneurs who dare to go into the business.
It is refreshing to see that, millionaires are being made through this means yearly and there is no end to the prospects of creating, more and more wealth through farming in coming years.

KMB was privileged to have a short chat with one of such agriculturist, who is into the production of honey. Excerpts from the interview below:


Kemi Mobuse blog: Good Day, can we meet you?

Sehai Honey: Yes, please. My name is Edwin Aguddah the Head of Operations for Sehai Foods

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you do and what inspired your business? I am an

Sehai Honey:  Agriculturist with a strong passion for innovation. What inspired us to start this business is the need to fill the gap where unadulterated, hygienically and decently packed, portable honey is required in the country.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Why this line of business in particular?

Sehai Honey:  Most people consume sugar and other sweeteners which are not so healthy and this is where we come in with a healthier substitute to consumers, which is Sehai Honey. It comes in several SKU such as;single use for the mass market and could be taken on the go.



Kemi Mobuse blog: how old is your business now? And how has the market reception been? 

Sehai Honey:  Four (4) years now. The market reception has been impressive. It has actually grown following all the awareness created.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What is your motivation to succeed and what is your own definition of Success?   

Sehai Honey:  To become the number one in the breakfast category, and a global leading brand, that is self sustained and fully concerned with; providing humanity with healthy organic foods as well as meeting the felt needs of the less privilege.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What challenges have you experienced since inception that almost made you gave up?

Sehai Honey:  Operating in Nigeria where power supply is a major constraint, another challenge was putting structure to the fragmented agricultural value chain and high cost of acquiring machinery and equipment.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Is this your sole source of livelihood? Or can you see yourself doing anything else?

Sehai Honey:   No it’s not. Yes, I believe in diversification to facilitate multiple streams of income.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What have you learnt from being an entrepreneur?

Sehai Honey:  I have devised the ability to forecast and take decisions in face of uncertainty.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What was the worst advice you have been given since you started your business?

Sehai Honey:  Inaccurate projections based on assumptions; when a certain strategy is about to be adopted, using the experience gained from similar businesses.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Did you take the advice?

Sehai Honey:  No, I didn’t because the model wasn’t the same. 

Kemi Mobuse blog: Since inception of your business, what has been your defining or most memorable experience?

Sehai Honey:   An interesting response from consumers on introduction of a unique idea in the packaging of Sehai honey (rebranding)

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you think is your defining factor that sets you apart from the rest?

Sehai Honey:  The premium quality derived from the unique blend which is only Sehai’s.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Any advice for future entrepreneurs?

Sehai Honey:  Yes, please try to keep your head above water. It doesn’t matter the circumstances around you.
