Turning your passion into business is the most likely way to makes headway, generally nowadays. Because, even when it is not profitable in the beginning, your passion for what you do, is what keep you going. Kunbi Works was initially a passion, which was later transformed into a viable business with the sole aim of showcasing the creative prowess inherent in Africa and also to promote indigenous fashion accessories thereby creating job opportunities in the future for people who believe in handmade products.

Adeyemo Blessing Oluwadara, the creative designer/ CEO of Kunbiworks in her recent chat with KMB enlightened us more about what her brand is about and her journey so far...Excepts below;

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you do?What is Kunbi Works about.

Kunbi Works: Kunbiworks is all about crafting varieties of fashion accessories all made in Nigeria such as bracelets, Necklaces, Key chains e.t.c with the sole aim of showcasing the creative prowess inherent in Africa and also to promote indigenous fashion accessories thereby creating job opportunities in the future for people who believe in handmade products.

Kemi Mobuse blog: How old is your brand now?

Kunbi Works: It all started as a passion in 2014, when it was streamlined to wire works designs and gradually into beading, but officially opened for business and expansion In February 2015, which is our official date as a business, when I saw Kunbiworks from a different perspective and decided to change what we did, to creating and crafting what will be widely accepted by all calibre of people; children, youths and even adults. Then I knew having passion for something can also serve as a means of reaching out and being self-made.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What major challenges have you experienced since starting out?

Kunbi Works: Well, there have been a few challenges, you know as a start up, the struggle to make yourself known and your works recommended, then, trust issues with some clients. However; we have been able to overcome now that we are widely recognized by many. Then, another major issue we have had to deal with has been in the aspect of product delivery, to most states in Nigeria and even other countries, due to distance and high cost of delivery required by courier services these days. Bu,t that too, is under check now, because we intend to partner with some of the courier services soon

Kemi Mobuse blog: How has the market been since inception?

Kunbi Works: There have been great improvements so far. We have been able to reach out to lots of people and our services are now noticed and recognized all over the country and even internationally. At inception, it was a one-man business but now, its more hands on, which has been really helpful in the growth of the business.
The market reception has also generally improved from barely 10 clients a month to way more than that presently.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Any advice for future entrepreneurs?

Kunbi Works: My advice to future entrepreneurs is believe in yourself, know that anything is possible, provided you are ready to take risks. Most importantly love what you do, it's the only thing that keeps you going even when you are faced with challenges and the sky will be your starting point.
