By Kemi Mobuse - Monday, March 07, 2016

Having those special moments that occurs only on some occasions; accurately and beautifully captured for posterity is usually a must as once that window of opportunity closes, then, poof! its just gone forever!.
During Weddings, birthdays, Naming ceremonies and so on, a good photographer is a very important element, as he alone can at times make or mar your event, just like that...
SO KMB sat down with a prestigious photographer, who has the intricate ability of capturing "those" moments, even when the object of photography is blissfully unaware....
Kemi Mobuse blog: Good afternoon, can we meet you
Ask Photos: I am OBIDELE Idris Adekunle
Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you do, I.e business wise
Ask Photos: I am a photographer. A graduate of Agricultural Economics. Have a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka
Kemi Mobuse blog: Why this particular line of business?
Kemi Mobuse blog: Why this particular line of business?
Ask Photos: Photography is a passion driven business for me
Kemi Mobuse blog: How so?
Ask Photos: When I was young, I love to take pictures even without cameras, I always imagine myself photographing people. And while growing up I developed interest in photography by my curiosity towards any photographer I ever came across, I ask them series of questionsKemi Mobuse blog: Lol! What do you take those pictures with, back then?
Ask Photos: During those days I stylishly imagine and practice photography with my hands while I ask a friend or as the case may be couple of friends to stand and allow me take their picture.
Kemi Mobuse blog: Those must have been some patient friends, did they oblige you?
Ask Photos: Yes, they were always patient and you know as small children we had a lot of time to play together
Kemi Mobuse blog: When did you start your business, and did you start solo or started out working for someone?
Ask Photos: I started doing photography in the year 1998, then it wasn't for a business, I got myself a camera then and started to do a family photography, I.e. whenever we had events in my house I bring out my camera and start to take pictures as well even as other professionals my parents hired does their job.. Back then it was the era of manual cameras, there was no digital camera, as we have now.
Ask Photos: After 2 years I was obligated to face my studies squarely,
That was when I decided fully I was going into it full time
Kemi Mobuse blog: Ok, what is the name of your business?
Ask Photos: ASK DIGITAL CONCEPTS is the business name
Kemi Mobuse blog: That is an unusual name. What does it mean? And what inspired it?
Ask Photos: Yes it is. When I was to choose a business name a lot of names struck my mind but none actually fits what I wanted
Kemi Mobuse blog: and what is it you wanted?
Ask Photos: So, I continued to think then I realized that whenever we see any image or photo either printed or soft copy after checking out how the picture (s) look the next thing questions you ask the available person is who took this photo and that's a process of ASKING, also after you admire the picture the next question is I would love this photographer to take some of my pictures, and by ASKING the photographer to take your pictures, you also ASKING, so that was the simple name that explains my thoughts
Kemi Mobuse blog: That’s Really nice.
Kemi Mobuse blog: How has the market reception been since you started, is it easy getting client?
Ask Photos: Hmmmmmmnn… getting clients isn't always something easy, most times it by recommendation, when a client is satisfied he or she would definitely recommend you.
And also nowadays social media assists in a way to reach out to a whole lot of people
Kemi Mobuse blog: What challenges have you encountered that you could say, almost made you give up?
Ask Photos: The first challenge was when I went to shoot some students at a waterfall and my camera fell inside water, another one is the way clients owe me a lot of money, sometimes I feel frustrated because I also have bills to pay
The camera issue happened in the year 2011
The camera issue happened in the year 2011
Kemi Mobuse blog: Heya, any other challenges?
Ask Photos: Other challenges: clients changing dates without early notice... Some clients also likes to lie that their event is a small event just for them to get discounts, another main challenge is the headache of upgrades which sometimes the cost of the equipments could be very outrageous and expensive for one to afford at the moment of need and with a lot of clients not willing to pay for quality jobs, they want to get the best at a minimal cost.
Kemi Mobuse blog: I can see it's been tough, yet here you are. It's obvious you love what you do
Kemi Mobuse blog: Is this your only source of livelihood or you combine with a white collar job?
Ask Photos: It's been tough, most times one has to burn a lot of airtime to convince a client over phone conversation and he or she might end up not giving you the job, some after conclusion and you are waiting for their deposit, they will tell you one of their family members have taken care of the photography.
Ask Photos: It has been my only source of income
Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you think separate you from others doing same job, that will make a client choose you?
Ask Photos: The quality of job, though we have a lot of photographers that also delivers high quality photos but not all have the ability to document events very well, E.g. a client has once told me they hired a Professional photographer and he only documented mostly the bride and groom's pictures in the photo book
Ask Photos: Another point is the way I treat my clients as family, I ensure I know them beyond normal business alone, I get close to them and they are more than just clients to me.
Kemi Mobuse blog: What was the worse advice you have been given since you started out?
Ask Photos: The worst advice was that there are a lot of photographers, do you think you can meet up with them??? Its better you find another business to do
Kemi Mobuse blog: And your most memorable experience?
Ask Photos: That was the day I bought my new camera (full frame camera).
What made it memorable was because I never expected the favour when it came from God.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Awww, you would have been beyond elated.
How affordable are your prices?
How affordable are your prices?
Ask Photos: I was very elated. My prices are pocket friendly
Kemi Mobuse blog: Any advice for future entrepreneurs?
Ask Photos: Never go into photography because of the money or the fame attached to it, make sure it's passion driven
I haven't quitted the business just because of the passion I have for it and by the grace of God I am going far.
