I started my entrepreneurship journey with #3,500- CEO African beauty hub
By Kemi Mobuse - Friday, March 25, 2016
It is no longer news that make up and cosmetics used daily by ladies is now on the high side in the market now, an ordinary Marykay foundation goes for 3k to 3k5, depends on where you are buying, this is usually sold for 1k6 to 1k7, before the ban on importing of things and the high price of Dollar.
here is the good news though, all hope is not lost, why don't you consider patronizing made in Nigeria or in this case, Africa products? I can certainly say, some are even better than their counter parts bought from abroad, because they are mostly made from Natural products, and thus, pose less harm to your skin.
The brain behind this venture is a lady who wholeheartedly loves God and have a passion for what she does, and i took to her almost instantly, she has a brief chat with KMB and shared some things with us.....
Kemi Mobuse blog: Can we meet you?
Afribeautyhub: Am Esther Sanda. Brand Manager for African
Beauty Hub
Kemi Mobuse blog: What is African Beauty Hub
about?
Afribeautyhub: She is an online beauty store to retail
African made and owned beauty brands. To make them easily accessible to the
world and also to make Africans have a priority in purchasing African owned and
made brands than they do to foreign brands
Kemi Mobuse blog: Do you manufacture / make
any of your own beauty products?
Afribeautyhub: No, we don't make or manufacture any beauty
products for now
Kemi Mobuse blog: And is your stock limited
to African brands alone?
Afribeautyhub: Yes, just African brands
Kemi Mobuse blog: Can you mention some of the
brands you have in stock?
Afribeautyhub: We Naturals, BMPro,Zaron,Nyla
Naturals,Nilotiqa Hair Care,Taos Cosmetics,Pibona Cosmetic, etc
Kemi Mobuse blog: What inspired you going
into this business?
Afribeautyhub: Well the major inspiration was the Holy -Spirit,
also the vacuum I noticed that African owned brands have less customers due to
the fact we the purchasing power don't purchase them as much as we should do.
Kemi Mobuse blog: How old is your brand now?
And how has the market reception been?
Afribeautyhub: We are about a few months, its being slow
but we know it is a gradual process
Kemi Mobuse blog: Can you honestly say,
giving the African brands a market has really boosted their sales and
recognition?
Afribeautyhub: Yes, I can honestly say that. There are a
few brands that people were not aware of but got to know them through our brand
though we have not given each brand the expected sale that is required.
Kemi Mobuse blog: Is this all you do for a
living?
Afribeautyhub: I am a law student presently but I pray that, by God’s Grace, this will be one of my major sources of income, not just for me but my community and
the African society.
Kemi Mobuse blog:Amen, What major challenges
have you experienced since inception?
Afribeautyhub: The challenges are numerous;
First is convincing brands to realize their products on Deferred payment agreement
Also convincing them to even accept that the idea is visible
Also cost of publicity which refers to getting customers to be passionate about being the purchase power.
Funds is also a very major challenge, if I have enough funds I would buy off stock at least from 50 different brands and push.
But the challenges have opened me up to know that there is always a way out

capital wise?
Afribeautyhub: I started my entrepreneurship journey with

much?
Afribeautyhub: Yes, the result is what has made a few
individuals to keep supporting in their own little way.
Kemi Mobuse blog: Wow! Weldone
Afribeautyhub: Thanks a lot.
Kemi Mobuse blog: What are your future plans?
Afribeautyhub: God willing and by God’s Grace the future
plans is to gradually able to win over 90% of African Made and
owned brands to want to have their products on my online store than they rather
have it on another
Have nothing less than a million customer base from all over the world
Build an African Sephora/Africa Amazon (but now for strictly beauty) Store with majorly African made and owned beauty brands.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Any advice for future
entrepreneurs?
Afribeautyhub: My advice is first they should know their God,
be innovative, and be ready to learn. Be ready to go an extra mile,
entrepreneurship is not an escape route from office work because it is even
more tasking than a 9-5 job. Also be ready to face the challenges because that
is the only stepping stone to reach the peak, and they will surely come but
with God's Grace it can be overcome.
