The CEO of Jemmies Impression is a lady i have really come to admire for her creativity and passion for her work.
Since i met Jemmy in 2003, i knew she is a creative person, she doesn't even like books as much as she likes using her hands. She taught me to make hats and beads, while just in 100 level, and i have to say, i am proud of the woman she has become.

I sat down with her , to get to know more about what she does, and below are excerpts from the interview:

Kemi Mobuse blog: Good Morning, Mrs Ucheji, can we meet you?

Jemmies Impression: Ok smiles my full names are Ucheji Oizuanjeme, the Chief Creative Director of Jemmies Impression

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you do and what inspired your business?

Jemmies Impression: Ok, I’m an event personnel, I plan and manage events such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, conferences etc. I also help to style/decorate venues for such events.
My inspiration was borne out of my love for creativity right from my secondary school days I saw the need to create something unique out of the ordinary.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Why this line of business?  And not let's say make up, beads, shoes, bags?

Jemmies Impression: Well, I would say my line of business gives me more opportunity to brainstorm & be innovative.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Nice one, from the pictures I have seen, you have clients from all over, how old is your business now? And how has the market reception been?

Jemmies Impression: Thank you.. Well, my business started way back from my  undergraduate days, about 7 years ago I was taking little jobs here and there while in school, but went full fledge into the business after I graduated and since then I haven't looked back.
Sigh!! well I wouldn't say it has been all rosy, but it has been worth it.. I would say over time, more and more people have come to appreciate the event industry because it is what gives colors to their various event, though we still have a challenge of clients paying us what we are really worth.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Well-done Mama, we are all really proud of you.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What challenges have you experienced since inception that almost made you gave up?

Jemmies Impression: Hmmm, majorly it’s been the issue of finance..  Decoration materials are on the high side whether you intend to rent or acquire your own materials and because of the constant evolution in the event industry there is always something new you need to acquire as an event personnel with limited cash available.

Jemmies Impression: At inception, I had to borrow cash from my parents to pay the guys that work for me.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Awwww! Tough times! We are thankful for you and inspired by how far you have come.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Is this your sole source of livelihood? Or can you see yourself doing anything else?

Jemmies Impression: Yes, fortunately this is what I do full time, I have never worked under anybody I just feel it's best to give my all to the business.

Jemmies Impression: I don't see myself doing any other thing apart from events instead I'll rather expand go for advance trainings and invest in those that would love to go into this line of business.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Awwww! That lovely, your passion for the business is beautiful to see.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What is your current staff strength?

Jemmies Impression: *smiles thanks.. Well my staff strength is about  10 we hope to employ more hands as time goes

Kemi Mobuse blog: Weldone!

Kemi Mobuse blog: What was the worst advice you have been given since you started your business?

Jemmies Impression: Hmmm.. I'll say the worst advice has been to quit the business and get a well paid job and then come back after I have saved up enough cash to run the business.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Did you take the advice?

Jemmies Impression: No I didn’t.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Since inception of your business, what has been your defining or most memorable experience?

Jemmies Impression: There have been a lot of wonderful experiences, but I’ll say the most memorable ones are the moments I get feed backs from clients appreciating my company's efforts at making their event colourful & breathtaking it inspires me to do much more.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Do you know how many jobs you have done since you went full fledge? Does any of it stand out for some reason?

Jemmies Impression: Hmmm, really can't count.. Every job has had its own uniqueness & peculiarity.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you think is your defining factor that sets you apart from the rest?

Jemmies Impression: Hmmm i'll say me putting my clients first before anything and also going out of my way to ensure a successful event

Kemi Mobuse blog: Any advice for future entrepreneurs?

Jemmies Impression: Yes, yes they should first of all be ready to give their all; time, resources and ideas to their chosen business and have a mindset that there's no limitation to what they want to achieve with God in everything.
