If Nigeria has a leadership challenge, it must conversely follow that we have a following challenge. Great leaders are scarce in Nigeria, not because of the excess demand of the following of such leaders but because the Nigerian masses have not particularly called out, in the way they ought to, for great leaders. As a people, we seem to be a lot certain about what we do not want than we are about what we do want. And those that genuinely care about this country have left those who do not care about our collective progress and prosperity to determine its reality of politics and governance.

That was how, i found myself in UNAAB, to start my Pre degree Programme, June 2002!

Another journey of my life has begun, with no hearing assistance. I was scared, but i knew that, i had to become a graduate whether i wanted to or not. SO, i summoned my courage and decided to just go ahead, who cares, whether i made friends or not?

Ever had a bad hair day?  A phrase that once meant you and your hair were living on different planets now refers to an overall cruddy day when nothing seems to go right.

People with hearing loss have days like that, but we call them bad hearing days. A day when communication is a struggle from sunrise to sunset.  We say the wrong things, replying to what we thought we heard.  We stumble into comprehension halfway through someone’s sentence.  People seem irritated with us.  And, of course, our technology lets us down – hearing aids sputter, captioning is illegible and CI batteries conk out at the wrong time (but really, what is a right time?).  We become tired, frustrated and feel downright alienated from everyone.  We give in and go to bed, hugging a pillow around our ears.

That, my friends, is a really bad hair day.

There I was, feeling dejected, and rejected all over again. I just wanted to give up and stop trying, but I knew that was not even an option, my hearing aid meanwhile, was generating too much attention for me, from people, it was so bad, that; some people poke me in my ear and ask what is this for? My siblings too, decided, it makes a very delightful toy, and young as I was, I was careless, and within three months of getting the aid. It stopped working. The poor thing, just couldn't withstand all the assault.
