The first time, I tried my hand at interior
decorating; was when I got my first accommodation as a University Student. It
was my first time of living alone and I was determined to make my room the envy
of my colleagues, {as if they cared} lol!but guess what? No Money!!! At least,
not the kind I thought I needed.
I decided to trust my gut and use what I
have which included among other stuffs: a love frame given to me by an ex-boyfriend
and a hand painted image of me, by another ex..hehe! (all na Décor). By the
time I was done, I was surprised at our beautiful my room looked and everyone
who came to visit me was impressed too! I learnt there and then that;
decorating a house/home had very little to do with money and more to do with
creativity.
Barefeet Décor is one hell of a creative brand;
their products are not only unique but also eye catching. I especially love the
fact that, their products encompasses every area of a home and everyone in the
home, including the household pets.
I am even more amazed at the fact that,
despite the challenges we are facing as a country, our culture and way of life
is well appreciated by foreigners and the story behind this brand makes for a
captivating read….
When I found I was pregnant, I was excited when the Dr
told me, it was a girl. Omo Mehn! I was practically walking on the moon😀😀😀. My
husband couldn’t care less about which sex it was. He sha wanted a baby Lol!.It
was around the same time, I discovered Instagram. While doing my usual gbeborun
about and stalking celebrities, I happened across some awesomely cute crocheted
girls dresses, which made me drool and I started screenshoting away, hoping to
buy them all. I ended up with close to 100 screenshots when I mistakenly read
the caption and saw the price….I let out a loud scream because one dress is 12k…hian!bet why evils????😖😒
As if that was not enough to deal with, the next day, was my 6 months scan, Dr sha kept clearing his throat, while moving the scanner
around, after the third throat Clearing, I asked, Sir, are you ok?
He replied:” Em! Mrs Mobuse, it seems this your baby is a
baby is a boy ohh….I stood up and glared at him, I said, what the heck are you
talking about? After my trip to Eko and my Instagram shopping?
On remembering the Instagram shopping, Iyanmi!!!!😟 I silently
breathe a sigh of relief, thinking…..not today Devil! I shall not go broke! Not
today!!! That didn’t stop me from quietly wishing though and eyeballing pretty
babies dressed in gorgeous crocheted dresses and accessories.
My love for Crochets is unwavering and I know God will
answer a lil lady’s prayers…..someday…..Babies are the reason that
Temi_crochets came into being and her love for the craft is second to none.
Temilade decided to make something of her hobby and passion and hers is a story worth
reading and sharing …read below:
My love for bags could be described as cultivated through Mischief 😀😀😀. While growing up, our Mum love taking us on a visit to one of her brother's house. His love for fish and sugar coated groundnut is totally unrivaled, we ended up calling him, "Daddy Eleja" (Daddy who has fish or so...Lol). Every time, we got there, he delighted in serving us fried Fish as well as groundnut and when its time to leave, he always encouraged us to pack as much fish and groundnut as we can. My brothers had no qualms filling up their pockets and since,we girls had no pockets, we resorted to using our clothes to pack ours. The boys would tease us, about our undies showing which would make us spill the contents of the clothes on the ground, in order to protect our modesty. I decided there and then to play a fast one on them...On our next visit to Daddy Eleja, I was prepared. I whipped out one of Mum's handbag that I had concealed under my clothes and packed enough fish and groundnut to fill up the bag...Poor Mummy was astounded at my gluttony and beat me mercilessly when we got back home, but hey, who cares..I had enough feast fit for a King and I ate it all alone...Hehe😏.
That mentality, that I can always do more with a bag , stayed with me, and I hardly ever stepped out without one. Along the way, I developed a taste for unique bags and I was captivated when I came across those made by Helade & Sola. To say, I went into stalking mode was an understatement. Read the story and inspiration behind the brand below....
I have been there, done that and gotten hurt. When I say go where the love is, some of you wouldn't understand but I do. Look, your self esteem is very important, if it has been tampered with, hmmm!!!!there is little to what you will be able to achieve in life, so don't let anyone play you.
Nigerian designers have been springing up day by day with them
making a 'style show' on Instagram especially, which has become a hub of all things
fashionable and these list below some of whom, I have showcased on the blog are
definitely making waves or about to.....
My aim here is to bring awareness to local Nigerian
designers by showing off those wearing their outfits at public events making
them go from obscurity to popularity. Each of these designers is unique and
different but all had one thing in common. They are youthful, trendy, urban and
chic. Here below, I have listed the designers showcasing their work and
information about them.
So, the Marketfest2017 was an amazing Success, from Agriculture, to make-up products, to Fashion, Food and Beauty products, all MADE IN NAIJA nothing was Missing.
We at KMB, had fun meeting with few of the brands we have been privileged to showcase here on the blog.

A Happy new month to you all, and welcome to December...Do you realize its just 24 days to Christmas?? It seems just like yesterday we all screamed happy new year...Well, I'm glad and also thank God for leading us from January to this moment, its really not easy, but His grace that has led us thus far will see us through. Amen. This year has been full of ups and down, even though there is more of Ups than down, but I have every reason to be thankful and I know you do too. Anyways, this is me wishing you the best in this new month. God Bless you all. Cheers.
Growing up, I have always been surrounded by Jewelries, infact, my mum God Bless her soul, see it as an unforgivable crime for her children to go out without Jewelries, in her mind, she was like..."God forbid, they think she is poor" and to show how rich she is, Mama end up dressing us girls in colourful beads, bangles and earrings all at once, she would round off the look by dressing us in high heeled shoes thick enough to break cement 😀😀😀. One would think the boys would be left out, for where? they had to have their hairs parted and creamed till its shining like that of a peacock....in short, mama no dey carry last, kapish!
Since then, I have found it extremely difficult to step out without jewelries on, and should I forget to wear one, I'll feel totally naked throughout the whole day....
Giving confidence to the wearer is what Designer Doubara is aiming to achieve with her brand, allowing them to express their personality through her jewelries is her mission and making a difference with her brand is her motto.....in her session with KMB, she talked about her passion for jewelries, her dreams for Zivanora and more.....please read below...
Tv Personality, Ebuka Obi-Unchedu has to be one of the best dressed at Banky W and Adesua's traditional wedding as he stepped out in a Ugo Monye designed outfit on Saturday. His Agbada was one of a kind and regal to boot, Ebuka practically stole the show from the Couple, even Banky W the groom was also confused for a minute at to who was actually getting married.
As newlyweds, you both are excited about your new home,
living together for the first time as husband and wife and building a family
together. There are so many positive things to look forward to. But, in the
midst of all the happiness, some troubling situations may surface. You quickly
realize marriage is not as simple as you may have imagined.
THAT, is when you realize, there are some things you need to
live by……..
If I were to do it again, I’d have a new set of vows to give
and expect in return
By Michelle Horton
Six years ago this December, I stood in a wood-paneled
courtroom and awkwardly exchanged wedding rings with my boyfriend. I was
wearing a brown dress, the only dress that fit over my 8-month pregnant
belly, and he was wearing a casual button-down shirt.
We recited the lines we were told to say — for better or
worse, in sickness and in health... yada yada yada. And that was about it.
Married!!!
To be honest, the marriage vows were a means to an end, the
end being a marriage certificate and then a new family of three with one cozy
last name. I assumed that our promises were understood without some grand
public declaration (and by public, I mean four family members and a small-town
mayor): We would do what it takes to make our relationship work, come hell
or high water.
Turns out, hell came knocking pretty quickly. Our holy
matrimony was challenged with worse times, poorer times, and serious sickness.
Through it all, we saw the gritty inner workings of not only marriage but of love.
We learned more about ourselves and our partnership than we
ever expected. I guess that makes sense, right? Maybe the only way to
really understand marriage is to go through one. But then how can we make
promises about something we haven’t experienced?
Knowing what I know now, marriage vows are important. They
remind us to keep holding on or they raise red flags to aspects of a
relationship that need some attention. But marriage vows tend to be lofty,
idealistic promises dripping in romance or generic, one-size-fits-all
covenants that leave no room for nuance or reality. They often don’t reflect
the real promises needed in a healthy partnership, which are different for each
couple.
If I were to do it again, I’d have a new set of marriage
vows to give but to also expect in return. Here are the vows I should’ve made
on my wedding day:
Looking back to those days, when I was just
a Kid, I don't exactly look forward to attending parties, simply because; there
was nothing exciting about it. All you will get is the usual: Jollof rice and
one tough meat that can make you toothless, infact, Chicken is a rare
occurrence.
It doesn't help at all that; all the Mums
present will be having a silent competition on whose kid is the most well
behaved one, with each one glaring at the oblivious kid who is gallantly trying
to have some fun ...
Since growing up however, I observed Things
have really changed, and all this was made all the more apparent, when I
decided to celebrate my first son's birthday. I realized that; the kids have
their own tables and Chairs, their own bottled water and not only that; they've
got their own menu too..IYANMI 😰😰😰😰!!! why didn't someone tell me that before I started having kids
and wants to celebrate parties? Hian!
Long story short, my pocket paid heavily
for it and you can safely say, my bank account didn't smile at me for months 😩.. And the celebrant nko? The lil guy had the best fun of his
life and he boastfully beats his chest every time he sees his party album,
triumphantly piping to his baby brother...see Seyi's bobo mickey mouse party,
see Seyi's bobo's cake, it was yummy!yummy!!! That alone made me smile for
days, and I knew there and then that I made the right decision.
When I happened on Inception Kiddies page
on Ig, the food was what actually drew my attention, and like my son says, it
looks SO yummy!yummy!! And having a chitchat with the beauty behind the
brand was the highlight of my week....Hers is such an inspiring story ...please

The first time I saw a gift hamper, I was around 6 years of age..I have actually been seeing them during Christmas seasons but I never thought anything of them. Until, Our Dad brought home one with sugar coated Groundnut, chocolates and everything Yummy! Trust me, not only did I eat that groundnut and chocolate, I made sure I was not far from the basket till all the edibles finished...After that, I lost interest and moved on to other things..at least until the next gift hamper arrives.😌😌😌
Gift hampers brings with it a kind of excitement that goes beyond description most times and everyone loves to receive one....this kind of excitement is what the CEO of Cotton Coated factory banks on when she creates all her hampers with so much love and the results are always uniquely gorgeous and thrilling.
But, did you know unlike wicker baskets, she uses cotton towels for her creations...yes you heard me right....Towels....and the WHY is what made KMB have a chitchat with her..read below.....
Usually, it is believed that once a woman is pregnant, she cannot conceive another baby, but in what has shocked the whole world, a woman serving as a surrogate mother gave birth to a Chinese couple's babies only to discover later that one of the babies was hers.
Jessica Allen, 31, had been implanted with a Chinese couple's baby, then she got pregnant with her own child while already pregnant with another couple's child and she didn't know this. She found out she was expecting twins and thought both babies were for the couple. After she gave birth last December, she was not allowed to see the babies at all as their "biological" parents took them immediately.
I love Cake...as in; I over love it and because of that; I love to do birthdays countdowns....I just tend to forget the hefty calories in it, for that day....Instead;I pull up a chair, plate in hands, fork at the ready, looking anxiously to the moment, the cake will land on my plate....Forget that, I'm not the celebrant, no one kuku made a rule concerning who gets to eat the most cake..... and me, I no send.😛😛😛
I remember one of those days, Mummy decided to use my love for cake to get me to do the household chores...She just asked me, "Kemi, do you want that cake in the fridge? I nodded so hard, my head nearly fell off...she continued...Ok, no problem, quickly go and sweep the orchard, and come back for it...off to the orchard I ran...On getting there, I nearly fainted, at seeing the amount of leaves on the ground....but, on remembering my precious cake, I swept everything so thoroughly, you could lie down there and sleep off....Once done, with my back aching, I went to ask for my cake..mama suddenly remembered, the plates were unwashed, the gutter is dirty and school uniforms were unironed! my Dears, I did them all ohhhh, just for my precious cake..Foolish girl! 😠😠😠.. Thanks to Kokos Kitchen new creation...Cake Mix...I don't need to wait for birthdays before I eat Cake, I can have my cakes made quickly and easily with their cake Mix , same goes for pancake, not only is it fast but it's also less messy. Kokos Kitchen is run by two beautiful Ladies, Sifa and Tosin, and their interview with KMB enlightens us about their brand and creations.....read below....

The First Time I bought an Ankara palm slipper, was during my service year in 2010, even though; the guy had to do a lot of sweet talking and cajoling, I eventually caved and got myself one cute one. I fell in love with it and it became my constant companion for close to two years 😜😜😜 {Yes, I keep shoes that long}.
When the slippers eventually got tired of all the abuse I put it through, it angrily committed suicide, 😭😭😭😭by then; I was soooo in love with it but, the foolish thing broke my heart and there in begins my search for a suitable replacement which led me right to why KMB came to be!
Coming across Abike style Vogue brand on IG reminded me of my beloved palm slippers, in that; she understood the craft the right way and have the know-how to interpret exactly what resonates with her customers. She spoke at length about her brand and its impact on Nigeria and the Global world as a whole... Read below:
Back during my University Days, I was invited to a wedding somewhere in the remote town of Abeokuta...The party babe in me was overjoyed to wake up the party slayer in me, as in! I slayed to the nines and I was determined to come home with my husband to be that day!😛😛😛 A girl can dream right? We chartered a Cab to take us to the venue. Meanwhile; in my head, I was already picturing the Small chops, barbecue, roasted chicken and the likes I was going to consume, while very conscious of the fact that: my belle MUST NOT protrude from my cloth, which means little or no Water, Hehe!!! (to slay na beans?) The cab journey sha went on and on and on...mogbe!😔😓 my make up was beginning to melt, my shoes were pinching me and we never even got there.....Haaaa! We finally got to the venue, after like an hr of travelling, then; I almost refused to get down. Why was because. the wedding venue was like something from a horror movie, not only was it in a village; the only canopy there, was barely enough to cover those sitting in the scorching sun....Choi! I nearly wet myself when I realized; I was overdressed and my make up was ruined. I knew then that; I was gonna go home hungry! Since the food there was Jollof rice with tough cow meats, as well as Amala! and, It barely even went round...nothing resembling puffpuff at all....Infact; I was very sure that; if any man were to put a gun to my head then and there and propose to marry me, I will just remove my shoes with lighting speed, pull up my dress and Run!!! I cannot come and die ooo jare!
Me, a sad man, searching for articles, no idea how to please a woman :(
I feel really, really, bad for guys sometimes. Not only does patriarchy have such a negative effect on their gender, they also do not receive as much attention and excellent guidance as we ladies do. Long before I even cared about the opposite sex, I was already being trained to understand how I must relate to them, and carry myself in certain ways that would be considered pleasing.
If I were feeling unmotivated or uninspired about how to be a good wife or how to catch a man, all i have to do is conduct a quick google search and I would immediately have a wealth of information at my disposal. I could even narrow the search down to learn the specifics of the Nigerian dynamic. Luckily, we women don’t even have to search because we are reminded and told every day of our lives. A quick search of how to be a good Nigerian husband however? Zero!Zilch! No advice at all. In fact, the few articles I found, was even more advice for women!
Man, If I were a Nigerian guy, I’d be really jealous and super pissed off.
Since natural hair styling has come back with a revenge, determined to stay this time around,I found myself an unwilling spectator. I am yet to get the guts to go that route! heee!I cannot come and kill myself ohhh jare...its not for the fainthearted at all!😒😒😒 But, that doesn't stop me from drooling whenever I see some gorgeous natural hairstyles, and wishing I can actually rock a natural hair myself. Its like; someone cannot even rock relaxed hair in peace without seeing all the beautiful naturalists parading up and down, making me wish I can just throw caution to the wind and join the team.
Once again this year “MARKETFEST2017” is coming with a spicy event and a twist to its local content. Adding to our regular categories will include ‘THE AGRICULTURE’ category

Looking back to my secondary school days, I didn't consider myself beautiful by any standard, thanks to my hearing challenges...I however usually get compliments every now and then, but I never took them to heart. I avoided pictures like a plague. And as a result, I have no single picture to show for my six years stay in that school. Fast forward to my University days, I have blossomed into myself then, and gained a little confidence along the way...an over enthusiastic photographer eventually snagged me into posing for him. On seeing how beautiful the picture turned out...I was overjoyed and became an avid "poser"...I bet the photographer regretted his decision if not for the money I was paying him, cuz there I was, everyday, posing away like a peacock.....ko easy being a fine babe meehn!😉😉😉 All those pictures nko? I saved them ohhh! Infact, I already had a whole album by the time I was through with my Pre-degree program. And I can save pictures ehn!😏😅, If you sneak a look at my phone, you will definitely see a picture I took 12 years ago on it, Hehe! My sisters even tagged me the living album, since I am their go-to person for throw back pictures. 👅. Coming across Maro So was actually by luck, we have a mutual friend, and looking at the pictures she posts daily, while giving credits to Maro...I was intrigued. There was just something, so real, so effortless and relative about his pictures, and trust me, getting a chance to know him, is too good an opportunity to pass by....Maro shares his journey and passion with us....trust me. its worth reading below:
My journey into the fashion world began with my mum. She bought me my first doll and taught me to sew...dressing the doll in my own version of "happening" clothes back then😬, was the highlight of my day, and a job I took seriously to heart. That was until a jealous friend of mine, decided my poor doll would make a better science experiment for dissection practice! ol boy!!! was I furious??????😭😭😭
The knack for dressing well and feeling good has been well inbred in my sisters and I though, that, we can't go wrong when it comes to Fashion. Infact, if you see one beautiful woman, wearing blue skyscraper gele, blue iro and buba, complimented with a blue bag and red lipstick walking as gingerly as possible and strutting proudly like a peacock, trust me, you just met our MUM!. hehe!!!Mama cannot come and carry last lailai!😏😑
Mama, God Rest her soul was a fashion icon to reckon with in her days, it's therefore no wonder, we proudly carry on the baton. We try to turn heads or at least attempt to break necks, whenever we have events to attend and do mama proud as well....but not in gbogbo colours ohhhh!lol!😊😊😊😊
Yomisummers as she is popularly called, is a fashion icon I admire greatly. The first time I came across her page, I find myself impressed and very much so,it's obvious the clothes she wears are very happy with her! lol!. Thing is, it takes a great deal to impress me especially fashion wise, and Trust me, I was really overwhelmed. There really is no style of hers, that I didn't love and it will be remiss of me, not to showcase such awesome talent and Beauty.
She recently had a brief chat with Aso Ebi bella and with her permission, I am sharing it with us below: Read on and feel free to steal a style or two; also follow her on Ig here
I just read this post in another group and hope that as mothers, aunts, cousins, sisters and grandmothers we will be vigilant over our children and wards both male and female.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love
makeup. I can list my favorite products by brand and price. Just because I love
makeup doesn't mean it's some sort of mask. I am comfortable walking around
with no makeup, and do it pretty frequently. It's not that I have to wear
makeup; I just enjoy putting it on.
My parents joke about where I came from because No
one in my family shares my passion for makeup. My husband especially always find
a way to complain and nag, when it’s time for me to apply my makeup, especially on Sundays.
To save himself the habit, the poor guy
decided, its best, He sleeps in late and then get up to shower when I’m done
with my makeup, hehe……werin concern me,
I sha must look good for God 😉😉😉😉…..and when it’s time for weddings, knowing the
makeup artist will take a while, he will start his grumbling in advance and
start mumbling and hissing….but the moment the makeup is done, he suddenly
assumes a macho pose and start preening like a peacock, as if the makeup was
done on him, smh! Men sha! Don’t even get me started on when we are the
event, husby will sit so close, I would barely be able to breathe, haha!
Chinyere Nwaneri has been interested in
beauty from a very young age. It was this passion that led her to start her
brand;Jummai Africa beauty where she functions both as amakeup artist and a beadmaker, after having acquired the essential expertise. In a
candid chat, Chinyere talks about common beauty mistakes, obsession with
beauty, beauty tips and more.

A Nigerian man has made a technological breakthrough after he invented a

I have been a great lover of plants and the outdoors for as long as I can remember. Thank God for my Uncle who was my secondary school proprietor, he made sure irrespective of your sex ; you know how to wield a cutlass and use it well.
I can proudly say I was a very proficient cutlass welder! 😀😀😀to my chagrin however, I suspect it may be one of the reasons I ended up gaining admission to UNAAB (an Agric Uni.), and ended up studying Animal Nutrition....not by choice sha!
Something good came out of it all, however! my love for the "green"....Therefore coming across Bamidele planters on IG was like a breath of Fresh Air and I couldn't help showcasing his unique workmanship and talent.
Check them out below and let's know your thoughts.....
I have always enjoyed using makeup, trying out different eye
shadow and lip gloss colors. However, I have always wondered why drawing a
black line on someone’s eyelid or darkening the shade of someone’s lips makes
them appear more attractive. For some reason, I am intrigued in finding out why
makeup, which is made up of oils and chemicals nonetheless, allows people to
conceive someone as more being “beautiful.”
I was privileged to have a chat with Celebrity Beautician Mrs Sophia
Idisi the CEO of Bella beauty ng
hair and makeup, who shed more light on the subject of my curiosity, and she enlightened me on the subject and ...I could practically feel the passion she has for what she does, miles away....At the end of the interview, i came away with the feeling that;
"...at the heart of it, makeup isn’t about looking good
-- it’s about feeling good."....
