I decided to incorporate my baking skills and healthy lifestyle and turned it into a business - Founder Kaabakitchen bakery
By Kemi Mobuse - Wednesday, July 20, 2016
There is this
stigma that eating healthy is gross, expensive, difficult, and boring.
Many people lack the desire to live a life that doesn't revolve around
amazing tasting food.
This is understandable, but what if I told you
eating healthy can also be delicious! Would you consider it then?
Do dishes like fried rice, creamy chicken soup, or grilled chicken sound yummy? How about snacks and treats such as Tiger Milk, bread, cinnamon roasted almonds, frozen yogurt, or even granola?
Every single one of those foods and more can be made healthy
and still taste amazing. That is what the founder of Kaabakitchen bakery had in mind to offer, when she birthed her brand.
Read excerpts from her interview with KMB below and feel free to drop your comments...
Kemi Mobuse: Can we meet you? What do you
do?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: I'm into baking and my company's name is Kaabakitchen bakery. Healthy
baking to be precise
Kemi Mobuse: What inspired you starting kaaba
kitchen bakery? And why the focus on "healthy"
foods only?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: I've always loved baking. It has always been a hobby of mine. I usually
bake for my family and friends at the same time I've always been into fitness.
So I decided to incorporate my baking skills and healthy lifestyle and turned
it into business.
Kemi Mobuse: Nice one
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: Thank you
Kemi Mobuse: Why this choice of Name in
particular?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: Hmmmm... 😬 Okay it's actually a combination of myboy'ss name.
Picked each alphabet from their names and made up the name Kaaba and since my
business is a home bases business and I usually do all my baking in my kitchen
that's where the name kitchen came from making it Kaabakitchen 😬
Kemi Mobuse: How old is your brand now? And
how has the market reception been?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: The business is quite new started in March 2016
It's been great so far. Started quite rough and daunting at first didn't know what to do most times. Or even the customers to focus on. I was mostly focusing on the fitness addict at first but, time goes on I realized that, healthy food is not only for the fitness addict but also for the elderly and children too.

Kemi Mobuse: What major challenges have you
had to deal with since inception, how did cope, more importantly what can you
say those challenges taught you?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: Most time, it was actually delivery which has gotten better over time.
The dispatch was always running late and delivering late which was very
difficult for me because I was constantly getting calls from customers asking
me when their orders will be delivered and sometimes they even mess up the
orders in transit which was always a loss for me because, I will either have to
refund the money or make another one. But with time, we were able to strategize
and things are so much better and well composed.
Kemi Mobuse: What kind of products does your
brand churn out?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: We specialize in making healthy bread, snacks like cookies, low fat
Greek yogurt, granola, tortilla wrap, healthy cake, scones, muffins and so much
more.
Kemi Mobuse: Do you have an outlet or you
make strictly by order?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: We presently don't have an outlet as of yet but we are surely working
on that. Yes we bake strictly by order and we deliver the next day.
Kemi Mobuse: What can you say being an
entrepreneur has taught you?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: It can be very challenging but if one remains positive, things will
surely fall into place.
Kemi Mobuse: What do you aim to achieve with
your brand in say 5 years?
Kaaba Kitchen
Bakery: In the next five years I'm hoping to open outlets in few places in
Lagos and Lao in Abuja God willing. To invent more and more healthy products
for our amazing customers to the upcoming entrepreneurs
Kemi Mobuse: Any advice for upcoming
entrepreneurs?
I would advise
them not to wait until they have millions before they can pursue their dreams
in life and also to remain focus and patient with every challenge that comes
their way. It can only get better.
Kemi Mobuse: Lastly, how can you be
