Hearing Challenges, More Common than we think...

By Kemi Mobuse - Friday, February 26, 2016

The world we live in; is a hearing world, and it feels strange coming across people who have difficulties coping with it.

Unfortunately, according to WHO over 5% of the world's population – 360 million people – has disabling hearing loss (328 million adults and 32 million children).

Roughly 10 percent of the U.S. adult population, or about 25 million Americans, has experienced tinnitus lasting at least five minutes in the past year. Among adults aged 70 and older with hearing loss who could benefit from hearing aids, fewer than one in three (30 percent) has ever used them. This can also be said of Nigeria, and a host of other countries, worldwide.

Some hearing disabilities are acquired; some are inherited, while some just happen through illness and a host of others.

It is really saddening to see beautiful babies , children and adults battling with the inability to hear in a hearing world, yet, unable to and they are continually left baffled, and, the people around them, simply do not understand, not because they don't want to, it’s simply because; they do not know how.

But, here is the good news, You are not alone, and there is a solution!

i recently came across a post on Bellanaija where a beautiful lady talked about her hearing issues. Am happy to see some people actually spoke up, and a little sad to see, a few of them had same issues. but, thankfully, we are getting enlightened and together, a lot will be done.

This platform is my voice, to create awareness for hearing, and one day at a time, i will share my story.

If therefore, you know of anyone battling hearing issues, feel free to reach out to me, i am here to help and inspire, so Help ME GOD!!!
